Welcome to our Civic Type-R sectionINFOHonda Motor Co. introduced the Civic Type R in 2001 with the design concept labelled "hatchback bullet". The initial demand for this new front wheel drive, 2.0-litre 197BHP car even had Honda surprised so they quickly increased projected build quotas by 300% in the first year. The Civic Type R is an exciting 3-door hatchback that boasts a powerful design with superior basic driving, cornering and breaking characteristics. The close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission provides dynamic performance of a professional racer level, while at the same time delivering a comfortable driving feel on everyday roads. The engine employs a high revving, high-output unit that combines VTEC, which adjusts intake / exhaust valve timing and lift at high engine speeds, and VTC (variable timing control), which continuously varies the intake valve timing phase in accordance with engine load. The result is manic VTEC revs with the enthusiast living on the edge of 9000 RPM´s, you simply have to experience the engine and gear change at full revs to appreciate the power and potential of this very special car. The facelift 2004 Civic Type R proved quite desirable along with the collectable "30th Anniversary edition" before the exceptional final run of limited "Premier Editions" were released. The Premier Editions feature huge Recaro front bucket seats, MOMO embossed-genuine leather 3-spoke steering wheel, red interior carpet trim, Type R brake callipers and rear tinted privacy glass. The stock statistics show a max speed of 146mph with a 0-60mph of 6.4 seconds. However, with careful modification and adjustment this car can end up flying off the Speedo :-) | |
